Tyler Perry’s Farewell Play Cast Talks Celebrating Black Culture Through Art

Tamela: My singing is, like he said, to bring hope and inspiration that it’s not over. You’re not the only one that’s going through it. Sometimes it feels like [that], but we’re all dealing with some type of issue. Everyone is dealing with something and to be able to bring some hope and inspiration to that, that the rainbow will come after the storm.

David: And to have the freedom as a brother, as a sister, to do that, and to have it coming out Black History Month, February 16th, BET, woot woot! It just feels great to have the freedom, to be able to do that. And you know, it’s just to our people. This comedy is for everybody, but just to know that our people get to enjoy something from us.

Tamela: And we get to bring like, the production was top of the line, high volume. It was amazing to even see it get put up every night.
